Zion National Park Tour FAQs

  • How many days do I need to visit Zion National Park?

Ideally, plan to spend at least 2 to 3 days exploring Zion National Park. This gives you time to hike iconic trails like Angels Landing and The Narrows, enjoy scenic viewpoints along the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, and still have time to uncover hidden gems most visitors miss, as well as explore the town of Springdale.

If you only have one day in Zion National Park, don’t worry, our Half-Day and Full-Day guided tours help you make the most of your time.

  • What are the best guided hikes in Zion National Park?

Our most popular guided hikes include Angels Landing, The Narrows, and the Zion Half-Day Hiking tour. Whether you want an iconic challenge or a peaceful canyon stroll, our local guides help you discover the best of Zion safely and stress-free.

  • Do I need a permit for Angels Landing?

Yes, all hikers need a permit for Angels Landing.  When you book with Explore Zion Tours, our calendar reflects dates when permits are already secured. If you’ve secured your own permit, our guides are happy to lead your adventure. Just contact us directly with your permit date. Permits are distributed through a lottery system at www.recreation.gov.

  • How do the Zion National Park and Springdale Shuttle Systems Work?

Zion National Park operates a free shuttle system during peak seasons (typically March-November, and winter break) that is required (including tour groups) to access Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, including popular stops like The Narrows, Emerald Pools, and Angels Landing. The Zion Canyon Shuttle runs inside the park, while the free Springdale Shuttle transports visitors between hotels, restaurants, and the park’s pedestrian entrance. When the shuttles are not operating, visitors are allowed to drive their personal vehicles on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Shuttle schedules, operating dates, and route details can change seasonally, so we recommend checking the official websites before your visit.

Bring comfortable hiking shoes, a refillable water bottle, sun protection, layers, and a sense of adventure!  For the Narrows Tour, we provide all the necessary gear, including shoes and walking sticks, as well as dry pants a $35-$60 value (depending on the season).

Absolutely! We specialize in small-group and private Zion National Park tours, tailoring pace and difficulty to your comfort levels.  Families, first-time hikers, and experienced adventurers are all welcome.  The Angels Landing tour is our most challenging tour, best for those comfortable hiking ~5 miles with steep inclines.

  • What if the weather is bad on the day of our tour?

Most tours run rain or shine, and a little weather often adds to the adventure! However, your safety is always our top priority.
